Grasso Pollinator Alliance Launches to Safeguard South Jersey’s Vital Ecosystems and Community Lands

Located In Mays Landing, NJ; Grasso Pollinator Alliance, Inc., is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit launched in “Feb 2026” dedicated to land stewardship, native plants, and pollinator conservation & awareness. Founded by local entrepreneur Don Grasso, the organization aims to combat biodiversity loss in South Jersey’s unique Pinelands region by fostering community-driven habitat restoration and education initiatives while promoting pollinator awareness.

Don Grasso, owner of Grasso Concrete, LLC, has dedicated years to his passion for plants and animals, complemented by his professional background in landscape design, horticulture, and concrete. When he is not working; he cares for a pet pig, goats, chickens, ducks, and of course his honeybees. Currently he is in the process of starting an organic fruit & vegetable garden for his family to enjoy for many years to come. What began as a simple hobby in connecting & learning from nature has evolved into a profound commitment, as Don continually learns from these remarkable, industrious creatures.

With three major pollinator holidays just around the corner, the Grasso Pollinator Alliance is poised to make a meaningful impact:

World Bee Day:

May 20

A United Nations observance highlighting the vital role of bees in ecosystems and food security.

National Pollinator Week:

June 22-28

A week-long celebration of all pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and birds, featuring activities centered on habitat protection and education.

National Honey Bee Day:

August 15

Dedicated to honey bees, this day emphasizes their importance in agriculture and offers ways to support beekeepers and conservation efforts.

The alliance addresses a critical local need: South Jersey’s ecosystems, including the vast Pinelands Preserve, are under threat from habitat fragmentation and climate change, impacting vital pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds that support agriculture and wildlife. Through hands-on planting events, workshops, and partnerships, Grasso Pollinator Alliance will create pollinator-friendly corridors, enhancing community green spaces and promoting sustainable land practices.

“In South Jersey, our lands aren’t just beautiful—they’re essential to our way of life, from farming to recreation,” said Don Grasso, Founder and President of Grasso Pollinator Alliance, Inc. “By focusing on native plants and grassroots involvement, we’re empowering residents to protect pollinators and preserve our natural heritage for generations. This isn’t just about bees; it’s about building resilient communities in the face of environmental challenges.”

The launch includes an upcoming community planting event for Earth Day 2026, at a public site in Mays Landing or Sewell, where volunteers will install native milkweed, trees, & wildflowers to create a model pollinator habitat. Participants will learn how small actions can yield big impacts, such as reducing pesticide use and improving stormwater management in flood-prone areas.

Grasso Pollinator Alliance invites local residents, schools, and businesses to join the effort.
